Performing arts athletes come in many forms, and we're here to support them all! Our physical therapy services are tailored for dancers of every style (ballet, pointe, hip-hop, breakdancing, tap, jazz, contemporary/modern, partner/swing/ballroom, salsa, acro, and more), gymnasts of all levels (JO/Dev/Xcel, collegiate club, varsity, or recreational), musicians, musical theater performers, cheerleaders, and circus artists.

Performing Arts Rehabilitation

Performing arts are sports that place unique physical demands on the body. At our clinic, you'll work with physical therapists who not only understand these demands but have also experienced them firsthand. This shared perspective helps foster trust while allowing us to better assess the specific dynamic movements required in disciplines such as dance and gymnastics.

Whether you are recovering from an injury or aiming to prevent one, your therapist will design a personalized program tailored to your sport, event, or style. From modified rest strategies to structured return-to-sport plans, we ensure you can continue participating safely while building the strength, mobility, and resilience needed to perform at your best.

Meet our Performing Arts Specialists

Amanda, PT DPT

Meet Amanda

Amanda is a physical therapist at our Medford office. She earned both her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science (with a minor in Nutrition, 2020) and her Doctor of Physical Therapy (2022) from Simmons University. During her training, Amanda completed a clinical internship at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, where she gained experience in performing arts physical therapy with dancers, musicians, and musical theater performers. She went on to work with the Boston Ballet summer programs, further building her expertise in this specialty.

In addition to her PT background, Amanda brings over 10 years of gymnastics coaching experience, including four summers at USGTC camps. She currently coaches college club gymnastics for Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Colleges of the Fenway - a program she founded as an undergraduate. As an athlete herself, Amanda is a two-time NAIGC National medalist in bars and all-around, choreographs floor routines, and has taught group fitness classes.

Amanda grew up as a competitive Level 8 gymnast. After a vaulting injury that sidelined her for a season and left her with ongoing pain, she discovered firsthand the impact of incomplete rehabilitation. That experience fuels her passion for helping gymnasts and other athletes recover fully, reduce injury risk, and safely return to the sports they love.

Today, Amanda is dedicated not only to supporting young gymnasts and performers but also to helping adult and retired athletes overcome long-standing injuries so they can stay active and strong at every stage of life.

Cheyenne, PT DPT

Cheyenne is a physical therapist at our Arlington office. She graduated from Simmons University in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, and in 2022, she earned her doctorate in physical therapy. Cheyenne, along with Amanda, did one of her clinical internships at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, and after finishing school, worked there and in the Boston Ballet summer programs, which helped her to gain experience in performing arts PT, including a variety of dance styles, music, and musical theater. Cheyenne primarily sees pelvic health patients now, but does see a small number of orthopedic patients as well. Cheyenne was also president of the Simmons University Dance Company and has been a dancer her entire life!

Meet Cheyenne

Cheyenne is a physical therapist at our Arlington office. She earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science (2020) and her Doctor of Physical Therapy (2022) from Simmons University. During her training, Cheyenne completed a clinical internship at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, where she worked with dancers, musicians, and musical theater performers. After graduation, she continued to expand her performing arts PT experience through work with the Boston Ballet summer programs.

While Cheyenne now specializes primarily in pelvic health, she also treats a select number of orthopedic patients. Her performing arts background gives her unique insight into the needs of active individuals navigating both performance-related and everyday physical demands.

A lifelong dancer, Cheyenne served as president of the Simmons University Dance Company and has been immersed in dance for as long as she can remember. Her blend of professional expertise and personal passion allows her to connect deeply with her patients and help them return to the activities they love.
